Tau Kappa Epsilon has written a long and storied history in its 110 years. Today, we are proud of our fraternity’s growth from its humble beginnings in Illinois to its present status as the world’s largest fraternity, boasting more than 270 active chapters. As the first fraternity at UCSD, the men of our chapter have been leaders on campus and achieved great things since our chapter was founded in 1981. Read more below.

The chapter continued to grow in the years to come. TKE is now the home of more than sixty members. After 2009, it could be argued that TKE’s rebirth was complete. The chapter had initiated 40 new men in a single academic year and made vast gains in their social, academic and athletic pursuits, along with notable philanthropic involvement, including hosting a charity kickball tournament and winning Delta Idol, a musical talent show benefitting St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. The success was not lost on the International Fraternity, who awarded Pi-Xi a Most Improved Chapter award, as well as Excellence awards in community service and extracurricular involvement.
But it is not the brothers of UCSD’s Tau Kappa Epsilon who would argue that their fraternity’s transformation is complete. Knowing that there is always an impetus to attain higher levels of mental, moral and social development, the determined brothers of TKE’s Pi-Xi Chapter will continue to strive for excellence in the years to come.
